How to Write a Compelling Ad for your Adventure Offer in 5 Easy Steps

This simple copywriting strategy outlines how to make your offer a top choice for travelers.

Twenty bucks says you didn’t decide to become an adventure guide, a pilot, or an outfitter so that you could spend hours beating your head against a wall trying to write an effective ad.

I hear ya.

I’ve put together five of the most important text elements of a compelling advertisement so that you can put it together, get it out there, and give your head something else to do.

Literally anything else.

I’d bet if you ask me, your services sell themselves.

Sounds fun? I'm in.

But even if the deal you’re offering is unbeatable, a lot of us will skip over it if the value isn’t CRYSTAL clear and real convincing.

We have a lot of different options to choose from.

These tips will make it more likely that we pick your business for our experience.

How to Write a Compelling Ad:

1) Provide a point of difference

Decide what it is that makes your service unique. Your business offers something that sets you apart.

You want to be the provider people pick.

Do your tour guides have special certifications or experience? Is there a place you take visitors to that no one else does?

Celebrate one thing that makes you stand out.

2) Underline the urgency

Okay. If you're like me, you don't want to add unnecessary stress to people's lives just to get them to pick your thing. Pushy salesmanship is annoying.

But the reality is, that deadlines motivate people to make a move.

And. The truth is that seasons only last so long. Winter is coming.

So emphasize the time limit.

By adding the pressure of an end date, shoppers will be more likely to set their plans in stone and sign up with you.

If you want to lead bear-viewing excursions in summer, create the urgency of fall’s wind down. Or if your snowboard lessons can only be booked in a 3-month window, show them the clock is ticking.

3) Throw in a freebie!

We love a “bonus” moment!

What can you add to enhance the offer? A complimentary info booklet? Snacks and beverages? A discount on the second tour booking?

Whatever it is, make it count!

The more you include, the more customers will feel they are getting the best “bang for their buck.”

4) Include the value of the add-on & the offer

Put a price tag on whatever you’ve decided to include in the offer.

Is the discount on the second tour booking a $200 value?

Compare how much the dollar value of the offer is with all the inclusions to the actual price they will be paying. We all want to have the best possible experience. Most of us also want to feel like we’re getting a great deal.

Emphasize the cost vs. reward

5) Create an action item

Lastly, tell your curious buyers exactly where and how they can book with you.

And make it easy. REALLY EASY. People are kinda dumb.

The CTA (call to action) is the most important part of the ad.

Whether it's a button, a link, or a QR code, the action is what separates the folks on your adventure (having a blast)

...and the folks in their camper-van rental scrolling on Instagram.

Don't be shy.

Your Ad

With a unique selling point, a deadline, a bonus feature, a stellar deal, and an action plan, your ad is looking pretty persuasive.
